In accordance with the maintenance regulations, we replace the spark plugs every 30 thousand km. We carry out the work on a cold engine.
Remove the engine screen (see "Checking the condition and replacing the auxiliary drive belt").
We remove the high-voltage wire tip from the spark plug.
Using a high 21 mm socket with an extension or spark plug wrench, unscrew the spark plug and remove it.
We check the gap between the spark plug electrodes with a round feeler gauge.
If the gap is not within the norm (1.0-1.1 mm) carefully bend the side electrode, achieving the required gap.
When screwing in the spark plug, it is necessary to turn the extension with a head or spark plug wrench by hand, and not with a ratchet or a handle, to avoid damaging the threads of the spark plug hole in the cylinder head.
If the spark plug is not threaded correctly, you will feel a strong resistance to rotation. In this case, it is necessary to completely unscrew the spark plug, clean the threads, and screw it in again.
Finally tighten the spark plug to a torque of 31-39 Nm.
Overtightening the spark plugs can damage the threads in the spark plug holes in the cylinder head.
