We lubricate the crosspiece bearings in accordance with the maintenance regulations every 10 thousand km.
We carry out the work on an inspection ditch or overpass.
We clean the grease nipples from dirt and dust.
We lubricate the splined joint of the sliding fork of the rear cardan shaft, pumping grease with a syringe through a grease nipple until the grease comes out from under the seal.
In the same way, we lubricate the splined connection of the front propeller shaft.
To lubricate the cardan shaft crosspiece bearings, you will need a syringe with a narrow tip, as the standard size tip will not fit into the gap between the forks.
If a syringe with a narrow tip is not available, disconnect the cardan shaft from the flange or remove it (see "Removal the propeller shaft").
To provide access to the oiler, tilt the cardan joint fork to the maximum possible angle and pump grease with a syringe until grease comes out from under the seals of all four bearings. In this way we lubricate the bearings of all four crosspieces of both cardan shafts.
