The body of the VAZ-2170 Lada Priora car is a four-door sedan, the supporting structure consists of a frame and mounted units (figure 11.1).
The body frame includes the base, sides, roof and frame parts, connected by electric welding (point, seam, arc), and is a non-separable structure that is sufficiently rigid and capable of supporting all vehicle units, body attachments, interior units and parts, etc.
The hinged units include the side doors, hood, trunk lid, front fenders, and bumpers. The doors, hood, and trunk lid are attached to the body with hinges, and the front fenders with bolts.
The front and rear bumpers are made of plastic, painted in the body color, and attached with self-tapping screws. The front bumper is equipped with an energy-absorbing beam. The radiator grille is non-removable and is part of the bumper.
To improve anti-corrosion properties, most body panels are galvanized. On the inside, the front and middle floor panels, body sides, windshield pillar reinforcements are galvanized; on the outside, the trunk lid and door panels, front and rear fenders, as well as many other parts (more than 30) are galvanized.
The windshield is three-layered, like triplex. The door, side and rear windows are tempered. Windscreen, rear (with heating element) and the side windows are glued to the body and are part of its power structure.
The front seats are separate, with adjustable backrest angles and longitudinal movement mechanisms, with easily removable headrests that are height-adjustable. The backrests of the front seats can be adjusted to a comfortable resting position.
The rear seat of a car with a single cushion and backrest, divided into two parts by a folding armrest. Behind the armrest there is a hatch covered by a lid, after removing which it becomes possible to transport long objects in the trunk, partially letting them through into the passenger compartment.
The front and rear side seat belts are inertial, and the rear middle passenger lap belt is non-inertial. To improve passive safety, the car is equipped with an airbag for the driver. In the variant version, the car is additionally equipped with a front passenger airbag and front seat belt pretensioners, which are triggered in the event of an accident at significant vehicle speeds.
The car's interior is equipped with a cigarette lighter, front and rear ashtrays, sun visors, heater, rear-view mirrors, and handrails. There is a mount for a fire extinguisher under the driver's seat, and a first aid kit under the passenger seat. The car is equipped with front and rear towing eyes, electric door locks, electric trunk lock, and heated front seats.
The volume, temperature, direction and intensity of air flows in the car interior are regulated by switches installed in the control unit of the heating and ventilation system.
The Lada Priora car body is equipped with exhaust ventilation through deflectors with valves installed in the rear part of the body behind the rear bumper.
Note: When parking the car for a long time, do not cover the body with a cover made of thick material. A cover that gets wet in the rain creates a steam "bath" when heated in the sun, and the paintwork underneath the car body can peel off and swell. In addition, under gusts of wind the cover moves and wears away the paint on the protruding parts of the body.
Note: Do not place rubber objects on the body. After some time, the rubber will remain on the surface (especially light) indelible stains.
Note: Lubricate the door hinge pins regularly with any liquid lubricant. There have been cases where door hinges have come off the body pillars due to rusted axles.
Note: If over time the rubber parts on your car's body have lost their "marketable" appearance, wipe them with glycerin, hand cream containing glycerin, or silicone grease sold in auto parts stores.
Note: From time to time, run a thin metal plate between the side glass and the rubber strip on the door - this will remove dust and sand and protect the glass from scratches.
Note: After washing, be sure to remove the rubber mats and dry the interior. Moisture under the mats is the main cause of floor corrosion.
Note: For more efficient use of the luggage rack, turn the spare tire over and use a shorter bolt for its mounting. The resulting "container" is very convenient for storing spare parts and tools.
