The Lada Kalina car is equipped with an eight-valve injection engine mod. VAZ 21114-50 with a working volume of 1.6 liters. The engine is equipped with a distributed fuel injection system and a catalytic converter of exhaust gases, structurally made in a single block with the exhaust manifold.
The body is load-bearing, all-metal, welded construction with hinged doors, front fenders, hood and trunk lid.
The driver's and front passenger's seats of the Lada Kalina car in a variant design are equipped with airbags, which significantly reduce the likelihood and severity of head and chest injuries in a road traffic accident.
Note: Airbags will only deploy if the front of the vehicle is hit hard. In the event of a vehicle rollover, rear-end or side impact, seat belts are the primary means of protection.
The transmission is made according to the front-wheel drive scheme with drive wheels of different lengths.
The front suspension is independent, spring, with anti-roll bar, with hydraulic shock absorber struts. The rear suspension is dependent, lever-spring, with hydraulic shock absorbers.
The front wheel brakes are disc brakes with a floating caliper, and the rear wheel brakes are drum brakes.

In the variant version, Lada Kalina cars are equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS), which prevents the wheels from locking during braking and maintains controllability and directional stability.
The steering is trauma-safe, with a rack and pinion type steering mechanism, with electric booster. Lada Kalina cars are equipped with a remote control system for locking or unlocking door locks (in a variant version and with a trunk lid lock) with simultaneous switching on or off of the vehicle's security mode. In addition, there is a provision for remote activation of the alarm system in case of violation of the vehicle's security zones and blocking of all doors by pressing a button from inside the vehicle.
This system also includes an electronic engine immobilizer system (immobilizer), providing additional protection against unauthorized engine starting.
