The vehicle's climate control system is a combination of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and is designed to ventilate the interior and regulate the air temperature in the interior. The ventilation system of the car interior is supply and exhaust. The climate control system can be equipped with a filter with a replaceable element for cleaning the air entering the interior. The temperature of the heated liquid in the engine cooling system is used to heat the passenger compartment.
The system uses R134a refrigerant. To remove the air conditioning units (for example, to replace a condenser) it is necessary to first remove the refrigerant from the system. The system must be filled using a special charging station with a pump to remove air and moisture from the system. Therefore, the execution of these works should be entrusted to a specialized service station that has the necessary equipment. This chapter describes operations that do not require special skills or equipment.
As the vehicle is used, the efficiency of the air conditioning decreases. Over the course of a year, even in a sealed system, the amount of refrigerant can decrease by 15% (this is due to its increased penetrating ability). Therefore, the air conditioning system requires regular preventive maintenance.
Warning! The air conditioning system should be refilled with refrigerant at technical centers specializing in the repair and maintenance of automotive air conditioners. Organizations servicing domestic air conditioning systems and refrigeration units use R12 or R22 freon. Mixing different refrigerants is not allowed.
