Small chips or cracks (length no more than 200 mm) on the windshield can be repaired with a special repair kit. To prevent an increase in the damage area, repairs should be started as soon as possible. Due to body vibrations that occur when the car is moving, temperature changes, and even from a small chip, a crack may appear. If the crack growth is not stopped in a timely manner, the windshield will need to be replaced.
The rest of the car glass is subjected to special heat treatment during manufacture, which increases their strength. Thanks to this, they do not have chips. But with a strong blow, such glasses crumble into small fragments and can no longer be repaired.
You will need a glass repair kit to complete the job. Blade (from a safety razor), food film.
The windshield repair kit is designed to repair three damages.

The kit includes a syringe filled with a repair compound, an applicator for filling chips and rings with a sticky surface for installing the applicator on glass. The ready-to-use repair compound cures in sunlight for 20 minutes. It is desirable to perform work in the warm season and on a sunny day. On a cloudy day, it will take significantly longer for the repair compound to harden.
Warning! Do not wash the windshield of the car before doing the work. Glass must be dry.
If you will be working on a hot sunny day, park the vehicle in the shade first and open the doors or lower the windows to cool the heated windshield.
Crack repair
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Wipe the glass with a clean soft cloth.
#img2#
3. Remove the cap from the syringe and firmly press the end of the syringe to the glass at the end of the crack.
4. Slowly and smoothly moving the syringe along the crack, we squeeze out the repair compound.
#img3#
Comment. It is necessary to fill the crack gradually, from its end to the beginning. If the crack has several branches, you should start with the smallest branch. To better fill the crack and remove air from it, you can gently press on the glass under the crack. Don't use too much force to prevent the crack from getting larger.

5. After filling the crack with resin, put a cap on the syringe.
6. We cover the glass area to be repaired with a piece of cling film.
#img5#
7. We roll out the car into sunlight for 20 minutes to polymerize the repair compound.
Recommendation. If the work is carried out on a cloudy day, the time for polymerization must be increased by 2-3 times.
8. Using a safety razor blade, we align and clean the glass at the repair sites.

9. At the end of the repair, we remove all dirt from the windshield using special glass cleaners (see above).
Chip repair
1. We prepare the car for work (see «Preparing the car for maintenance and repair»).
2. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove glass fragments from the chip.
Comment. In the absence of a vacuum cleaner, fragments can be removed with a needle or pin.
3. Wipe the glass with a clean soft cloth.
4. Remove the protective film on one side of the ring.
#img7#
5. We apply the ring to the damaged area of the glass so that the chip is located in the center of the ring, and protrusion A is facing up.
#img8#
6. After making sure that the ring is installed correctly, firmly press it to the surface (for secure fixation on glass).
7. Remove the protective film from the other side of the ring.
#img9#
8. Install the applicator on the ring (aligning its protrusion with the protrusion on the ring) and press firmly.
#img10#
9. Remove the cap from the syringe.
10. Install the syringe in the applicator hole. Pull the plunger of the syringe to the mark...
#img11#
... and turn it to fix it with a stopper.
#img12#
11. Leave the syringe plunger in this position for 30 seconds to remove air from the chip.
#img13#
12. We release the piston from the stopper (the piston will go down).
13. Gently press the piston until resistance appears.
#img14#
14. Retract the piston again and fix it on the stopper.
15. After waiting 30 seconds, release the piston and press on it until resistance appears.
16. We repeat the procedure for removing air four more times, after which we release the syringe plunger and leave it in the lower position for 15 minutes.
17. From the inside of the glass, we check the filling of the chip with a repair compound.
#img15#
18. If voids are visible in the chip that are not filled with resin, repeat the air removal procedure.
19. After the chip is filled with a repair compound, remove the syringe from the applicator and put a cap on it.
Recommendation. Save the remaining resin syringe for later use.
20. With a safety razor blade, remove the applicator and the remnants of the ring.
21. We cover the area to be repaired with cling film.
22. We roll out the car into sunlight for 20 minutes to polymerize the resin.
Recommendation. If the work is carried out on a cloudy day, the time for polymerization must be increased 2-3 times.
23. With a safety razor blade, clean the glass from excess repair compound and level the glass surface at the repair site.
At the end of the repair, we remove all dirt from the windshield using special glass cleaners (see above).
