- the anti-theft function will be activated in the engine management system ECU if it has not already been activated;
- the system will change its password to a new one, randomly selected;
- a new system password will be written into the training key;
- information about all previously trained working keys will be erased from memory;
- the codes of those working keys that were taught in this training procedure will be entered into memory.
The immobilizer training procedure is used in the following cases:
- to activate the anti-theft function in the ECU (for example, on a new car or when replacing a faulty ECU);
- in case of loss of working keys, to erase information about old working keys and to teach new ones;
- to change the system password if the owner suspects that the password could have been read (for example, when a car is sold by one owner to another);
- when replacing a faulty immobilizer with a new one to train working keys.
Note: The system provides for training only two working keys. Only new working keys can be trained (i.e. those who have not been trained by another immobilizer) or those that have previously been trained using the training key used in this training procedure. Working keys can only be taught together with an ECU in which the anti-theft function is not activated, or with an ECU that has been taught together with the teaching key used in this teaching procedure.
To teach the immobilizer key, you must do the following.
1. Close all vehicle doors. Turn on the ignition with the training key and wait at least 6 s.
2. Turn off the ignition. The indicator lamp should start flashing at an increased frequency (5 times per second) all the time, as long as the training procedure is carried out correctly. If the lamp stops flashing quickly, this indicates an incorrect operation, the time allowed for the learning procedure has been exceeded, or a malfunction has occurred. Remove the training key from the ignition switch.
3. While the indicator lamp is flashing (about 6 sec), insert the working key into the lock and turn on the ignition. If everything is done correctly, the buzzer will beep three times when the ignition is turned on.
4. Wait with the ignition on (about 6 s) until the buzzer beeps two more times. If after 6 seconds there are no sound signals and the rapid flashing of the indicator lamp stops, turn off the ignition and start the procedure again. If the learning procedure fails to complete again, then a malfunction has occurred or the working key has already been learned by another immobilizer.
5. Turn off the ignition.
Note: If a second working key needs to be taught, repeat steps 3–5 again, including turning on the ignition with the second teaching working key. If there is no such need, continue the training procedure.
6. While the indicator lamp is flashing (about 6 sec), remove the trained working key from the ignition switch, reinsert the trained key into the switch and turn on the ignition. If everything is done correctly, the buzzer will beep three times when the ignition is turned on.
7. Wait with the ignition on (about 6 s) until the buzzer sounds two more beeps.
8. Turn off the ignition, but do not remove the training key from the ignition switch. Approximately 6 seconds after the ignition is turned off, the buzzer should sound once and the indicator lamp should start flashing at double the frequency.
Note: If the buzzer does not sound and the lamp stops flashing quickly, you must turn off the ignition and start the learning procedure again. If the learning procedure still fails to complete, then a malfunction has occurred or this learning key is not suitable for this ECU.
9. No later than 6 seconds after the sound signal (while the lamp is flashing quickly) turn on the ignition with the same training key. After waiting 2-3 seconds, turn off the ignition. No later than 5 seconds after the ignition is switched off, the buzzer should sound three signals and the rapid flashing of the indicator lamp should stop. Do not turn on the ignition for at least another 10 seconds.
Note: When working with some controllers, the lamp stops flashing and the buzzer sounds three signals when the ignition is turned on. In this case, you should still turn off the ignition and wait at least 10 seconds.
After completing the learning procedure, it may be necessary to re-synchronize the immobilizer and ECU codes, since after completing the learning procedure, the ECU may not allow the engine to start when the ignition is first turned on. To resynchronize the codes, turn on the ignition with any trained key (preferably for workers). Wait for 6 seconds. If the immobilizer indicator lamp starts to indicate an erroneous system state (blink once per second), turn off the ignition and wait at least 10 seconds. Then turn on the ignition again. The lamp should not flash and the engine should start running.
If the indicator lamp remains constantly lit 3 seconds after the ignition is turned on, the ECU anti-theft function is not activated and the learning procedure should be repeated again.
