The operating parameters and condition of the vehicle and its units are displayed on the instrument panel (see "Instrument panel").
The tachometer and speedometer are electronic-mechanical. An information display is built into the instrument panel. It displays the odometer readings (trip meter), fuel level indicator, coolant temperature indicator and current time, as well as additional information from the on-board computer (for a car with an on-board computer).
The brake fluid low level sensor is installed in the brake master cylinder reservoir. When the fluid level drops below the permissible value, the brake system malfunction indicator lamp on the instrument panel lights up. The same lamp lights up when the parking brake is applied.
The emergency oil pressure sensor is installed on the top of the cylinder block. The contacts of a working sensor should close when the pressure in the engine lubrication system drops below the permissible level.
The coolant temperature sensor is installed in the cylinder head. The signal from the sensor goes to the instrument panel and to the engine management system ECU (see "Coolant Temperature Sensor - Replacement").
