You will need: all the tools necessary to remove the camshaft drive belt and tension roller, 10 and 17 mm wrenches, a 5 mm Allen key, and two screwdrivers.
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Drain the coolant (see "Replacing the coolant").
3. Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the TDC position (see "Setting the piston of the first cylinder to the TDC position of the compression stroke").
4. Remove the tension roller (see "Replacing the timing belt and tension roller").
5. Remove the camshaft timing pulleys (see "Replacing the cylinder head gasket").
6. Remove the rear timing gear cover (see "Replacing the cylinder head gasket").

7. Using a 5 mm Allen key, unscrew the three water pump mounting bolts.

8. Insert a screwdriver into the groove, carefully separate the pump from the block and remove it.

9. Remove the gasket from the pump.

Note: If the gasket remains on the engine, remove it from there. Replace the gasket with a new one each time the pump is removed.

10. Replace the water pump if coolant is found leaking through the drain hole (the pump seal is damaged)...

11. ...there is a noticeable axial play of the pump shaft (the pump bearing is damaged)...

12. ...cracks, chips, and flaking were found on toothed pulley 1, impeller 2, and pump housing 3.

13. Check the tightness of the pump bearing lock screw. Tighten the screw if necessary.

14. Install the pump in the reverse order of removal. In this case, the number on the pump must point upwards.

15. Install the removed parts onto the cylinder head and connect the hoses and wires to it in the reverse order of removal. Install the intake camshaft pulley with the disc that ensures the operation of the phase sensor facing the engine. Install the exhaust camshaft pulley in the same manner. Adjust the timing belt tension (see "Replacing the timing belt and tension roller") and the generator drive belt (see "Checking the alternator drive belt tension") and fill with coolant (see "Replacing the coolant").
