2.2.1. Parameter 4 02 05: Operation of windscreen wipers in automatic mode at reverse speed:

Same as for high speed switch.

2.2.2. Description of the windshield washer operation:

The BCM reads the signal from the CSW switch for the rear window washer and controls the corresponding wiper.

The BCM reads the position of the front windshield washer CSW switch to send to the EMM to control the front windshield wiper operation.

All other functions are controlled by the EMM unit.

The EMM unit controls the operation of the front windshield wiper in the following modes: AUTO, low speed, high speed.

2.2.3. Parameter 4 02 01: Windscreen wiper operation control

This function is used to control the operation of the windshield wiper.

The windshield wiper works if "+bat tempo" in the ON position, that is, if the vehicle's condition is greater than or equal to the "BatTempo" level.

The front wiper can operate in the following modes: automatic, low speed and high speed.

The low speed wiper function is available as soon as the car switches to "comfort" mode (regardless of engine condition). Automatic and high speed windshield wiper modes are only available when the engine is running and if the engine is stopped for some other reason than by "driver command".

Stopping the engine does not affect the change in windshield wiper speed (low speed remains low speed), except when high speed operation mode is activated, in which case it switches to low speed. When the engine is started after it has been stopped, the wiper will continue to operate in the mode that was selected by the combination switch if the wiper blades were in the stop (AF) position, except when the CSW switch is in the high speed wiper position.

When switching to "Bat-tempo ON", the motor is activated by a new wiper request from the CSW switch if the wipers are in the AF position.

If low speed operation is activated while the vehicle is moving (speed m is higher than VH_MOVING_THRESH(7 km/h)), when the speed drops below VH_STOPPED_THRESH (3 km/h), the wiper will switch from high speed operation to low speed operation. There is no change of wiping speed if the high speed is requested when vehicle is not moving.

2.2.4. Parameter 4 02 03: Automatic windscreen wiper control

This function controls the automatic operation of the windshield wiper. This mode is activated by driver commands. A rain sensor is required. The position of the combination switch for turning on the automatic mode is the same as for turning on the intermittent mode. This function is only available if the automated_functions_available parameter is set to true.

Automatic mode is activated when the engine is running and the CSW switch is moved to the "auto" position.

Each time the automatic mode is activated, one brush stroke is performed to indicate that the function is activated (this brush stroke is called: "Initialization stroke"), a request is sent by the sensor to the EMM unit.

The pause is adjusted by rotating the CSW switch ring to four different positions (correspond to four intervals). When turning the ring in the direction of decreasing the interval (brush strokes are more frequent), each time a single brush pass is performed. (But not for the case when the ring is turned in the direction of increasing the pause).

Description of the automatic windshield wiper mode:

The automatic windscreen wiper mode is activated automatically each time the engine is started if the CSW switch is in the "automatic" position. (The driver does not need to reactivate this function). In this case, the automatic single pass of the brushes is not performed (which is performed as initialization)

2.2.5. Windscreen wiper service position

The wiper blades can be stopped in the middle of the windshield for service work. This feature is activated only when the following conditions are met:
  • request for high speed wiper operation completed (not a state!)
  • and the engine is stopped via "Engine stop via standard driver request"
  • and "+bat tempo" included.

Low speed is used to enter the service position. The position is determined by the delay of the wiper blade operating cycle, which begins at the end of the stop position (AF).

To exit the service position, you need to use the combination switch, and the speed used depends on the condition of the car.

This deferment is called "GO_TO_SERVICE_POSITION_TM_TP", it is described in document No. 8.

2.2.6. Parameter 4 05 0: Windscreen washer

This function controls the operation of the windshield washer. This function is only available when the vehicle is in the active state when Ignition Level (ignition level) is in the ON (+APC) position. To activate this function, pull the combination switch lever towards the driver.

When the vehicle is in motion:

When the request to turn on the front windshield washer is short (lasting less than WASHER_CONFIRMATION_TM_TP (500 ms)) the windshield wipers will immediately perform one working cleaning cycle at low speed

(The material was taken from a website: ladaman)

A long request to turn on the front windshield washer (lasting longer than WASHER_CONFIRMATION_TM_TP (500 ms)) immediately turns on the windshield wiper at low speed if the vehicle is moving.

If the vehicle is not moving:
  • when the front windshield washer is requested to turn on for a short time (< 500ms), the wiper blades will perform one low speed wipe cycle after the lever is released

A long (> 500 ms) request to turn on the windshield washer can be accompanied by 2 results:
  • if the CSW windshield washer lever is released in the range from 500 to 750 ms, the windshield wiper will perform 3 extended cleaning cycles (FR_WIPER_PROLONGATION_WIPES_TP). The primary cycle is not performed until these extended cycles.
  • if the CSW windscreen washer switch lever is released after 750 ms, cleaning cycles will be performed with the windscreen washer operating. After releasing CSW, extended cycles will be performed after the currently running cleaning cycle.

After releasing the combination switch lever, the supply of washer fluid stops and the windshield wiper operates

"FR_WIPER_PROLONGATION_WIPES_TP" (3 passes). After the third pass and the DROP_WIPE_TM_TP delay (3 sec), the final brush pass (the so-called "drop wipe") is performed, if the corresponding configuration is performed.

During this sequence of wiper cycles, the wiper operation request is still the priority request.

While the windshield washer sequence is in progress, any new windshield washer request made from the CSW switch will reinitialize the washer cycle.

For the extended wash cycle sequence, the engine protection timeout ("WASHING_MOTOR_PROTECTION_TM") is calculated using the following formula:

WASHING_MOTOR_PROTECTION_TM = TimeOneWipeLS x (FR_WIPER_PROLONGATION_WIPES_TP+2) + DROP_WIPE_TM_TP

Only the result of this equation should be stored in the BCM (not configuration, not calibration).
