Description of operation of windshield wipers in automatic mode at reverse speed:
Case 1: The vehicle does not have menu "Settings (preferences) User". This feature is configured via LINKED_WITH_REVERSE_CF.
Case 2: The vehicle has menu "Settings (preferences) User".
The user can easily activate or deactivate this feature through the User Preferences menu.
The relevant ISRs are:
- Rear Wiper Activation Request (Request to activate rear wiper): 1194 User Settings Rear Wiper Configuration (User settings for rear wiper configuration)
- Rear Wiper Status (Rear wiper status): 1196 User Settings Rear Wiper Status (User Settings for Rear Wiper Status)
To display the activation/deactivation of the automatic windscreen wiper mode at reverse speed, select "ELAR" in the menu.
In case of change of REAR_WIPER_CF(BCM) status due to calibration, it is necessary to make changes in both BCM and Cluster in order to maintain the same configuration of functional parameters for "User Settings".
All other functions are performed by the BCM.
2.1.2. Parameter 4 02 04: Rear window wiper operation
The operation of the rear window wiper is configured via the REAR_WIPER_CF parameter.
The BCM controls the rear wiper relay until the electric motor moves to the stop position.
If the rear wiper blades are not in the stop position when a request to turn off the rear wiper is made using the CSW switch, power will continue to be supplied to the motor until the stop position is reached.
If the wiper is stopped at the end of a cycle outside the stop position, the motor will continue to operate until the stop position is detected at the beginning of the next cycle.
The rear window wiper operates only in intermittent mode and is activated by the rotary ring. The time between 2 brush strokes depends on the vehicle speed.
To activate the function, the driver must turn the ring "RearWiper/Washer" (rear wiper/washer) to the "Windshield wiper" position.
The interval between two wiper cycles directly depends on the vehicle speed. It consists of:
- in the speed range from 0 km/h to REAR_WIPER_INT_SPEED_THRESH_TP(1) km/h: REAR_WIPER_INT_VALUE_TM_TP(1) sec
- in the range from REAR_WIPER_INT_SPEED_THRESH_TP(1) to REAR_WIPER_INT_SPEED_THRESH_TP(2): REAR_WIPER_INT_VALUE_TM_TP(2) sec
- in the range from REAR_WIPER_INT_SPEED_THRESH_TP(2) to REAR_WIPER_INT_SPEED_TRRESR_TP(3): REAR_WIPER_INT_VALUE_TM_TP(3) sec above REAR_WIPER_INT_SPEED_THRESH_TP(3): REAR_WIPER_INT_VALUE_TM_TP(4)
If vehicle speed information is missing or invalid, the time between 2 working cycles is REAR_WIPER_INT_PERIOD_TP sec.
All these values are calibration parameters.
The configuration of the intermittent rear wiper speed is no longer performed, as this function was already configured in the previous project.
If the vehicle speed is higher than REAR_WIPER_OVERSPEED_THRESH_TP, the rear wiper operation is prohibited to prevent the wiper blades from jumping off the rear window. This value can be adjusted on SW.
If the rear wiper operation was stopped while the rear wiper was operating and it was not in the stop position, the BCM will search for the stop position on subsequent operation.
a) Starting the rear wiper

b) Initialization of the rear wiper

c) Prohibition of rear window wiper operation by speed

2.1.3. Parameters 4 02 04 and 4 02 05: Rear wiper deceleration mode
Slow-motion mode (speed reduction) activates every time the rear wiper motor is turned on if the search for the stop position takes longer than REAR_WIPER_PROTECTION_TM_TP.
When the deceleration mode is enabled, the power supply to the electric motor is stopped for the REAR_WIPER_COOL_OFF_TM_TP delay time.
Exiting the rear wiper slowdown mode is only possible if the REAR_WIPER_COOL_OFF_TM_TP timeout has expired and if a new request has been received from the driver. If the driver makes a new request during the timeout period, the BCM remains in deceleration mode (speed reduction).
2.1.4. Parameter 4 02 05: Automatic windscreen wiper operation at reverse speed
The car has a menu "Settings (preferences) User".
The user can easily activate or deactivate this feature through the "User Preferences" menu (Parameter 1 02 05). The relevant ISRs are:
- Rear Wiper Activation Request (Request to activate rear wiper): 1194 User Settings Rear Wiper Configuration (User settings for rear wiper configuration)
- Rear Wiper Status (Rear wiper status): 1196 User Settings Rear Wiper Status (User Settings for Rear Wiper Status) For more information on the User Settings Preferences see the Document. (65640\ICS\11-2004\1)
If the reverse speed is activated after confirmation between REVERSE_DELAY_TIME_TP, and the front wiper is operating (in manual or automatic mode, regardless of the position of the combination switch), then the rear wiper operates with an interval of REAR_WIPER_INT_PERIOD_TP (5 sec) between two passes of the brushes.
If one of the above conditions is not met, the wiper stops in the stop position (AF).
Automatic operation of the wiper at the rear speed takes priority over the intermittent operation of the rear wiper.
Filtering time for reading the "RearGear" input (Reverse speed) the same for both manual and automatic gearboxes. No need for Manual gear box/Automatic gear box configuration (Manual/automatic transmission).

2.1.5. Parameter 4 05 02: Rear window washer
This function controls the operation of the rear window washer.
To activate this function, the rear wiper/washer ring must be in the "Wash" position.
If the request to turn on the rear window washer is short-term (less than WASHER_HOLD_TIME_TM_TP (500 ms)) the window wiper does not turn on.
If the request to turn on the rear window washer is long (lasting longer than WASHER_HOLD_TIME_TM_TP (500 ms)) the window washer will immediately turn on at low speed.
After releasing the combination switch lever, the washer fluid supply stops, the wiper blades perform 2 passes after the next stop position (AF). After the second pass and the REAR_DROP_WIPE_TM_TP delay (3 sec), the wiper blades will perform the final pass (called "drop wipe").
If a request to turn on the rear window wiper is made while the "drop wipe" is waiting, the request is fulfilled and the "drop wipe" passage is cancelled.
If a request to turn on the rear wiper is made during extended passes, the drop wipe pass is cancelled and the request to turn on the rear wiper is made after the intermittent mode delay after the last extended pass.
If a windshield washer sequence is in progress, any new request to turn on the windshield washer during this time (performed using a CSW switch) will cause the windshield washer cycle to be reinitialized.
If the rear wiper continues to operate in intermittent mode: When a request for windshield washer operation is activated using the CSV switch, the windshield washer sequence will continue (highest priority). After the last extended cleaning cycle has completed, the intermittent mode timeout is reinitialized.
The final pass (drop wipe) can no longer be configured as it could be until now. See the above mentioned email (4 02 04: rear wiper).
