Warning: Springs must be replaced in pairs, even if only one is faulty.
To perform the work you will need an inspection pit or overpass, a jack, a stand for the car, and wheel chocks.
Sequence of execution
1. Prepare the car for work and hang the rear part of the car on stands (see "Preparing the car for maintenance and repair").
2. Remove the rear wheel (see "Wheel replacement").
3. Place a jack under the corresponding longitudinal arm and jack it up a little.
4. Unscrew the lower shock absorber mounting bolt (see "Rear shock absorbers - replacement").
Warning: When performing the following operation, do not over-tighten the brake hoses.
5. Remove the jack from under the lever and, pressing the lever down with a mounting blade, remove the spring.
6. Remove the upper spring cushion.
7. Remove the lower cushion from the spring.
8. If the cushions are badly worn, damaged or hardened, replace them.
Note: Springs are divided into groups according to their rigidity. Each group of springs is marked with paint of a certain color, which is applied to one of the coils. It is necessary that the car is equipped with springs with markings of the same color.
9. Install the parts in reverse order. When installing the cushions on the springs, align the edge of the coil with the protrusion of the cushion.
10. Replace the second spring in the same way.
