Removing
The work is done on a lift.
Secure the engine radiator to the front cross bar of the engine compartment with straps.
Remove the front wheels and engine crankcase protection.
Remove the front fender liner and mudguards.
Unscrew the three screws securing the bottom of the bumper to the front suspension subframe and remove the lower part of the bumper, releasing the subframe.
For vehicles with a K7M engine, remove the catalytic converter.
Unscrew and remove the bolts securing the stretch marks of the subframe to the side members (head "on 13").
Unscrew the nuts and remove the bolts securing the ball bearings to the steering knuckles (key "at 16", head "at 16").
Disconnect the ball joints of the front suspension arms from the steering knuckles.
Loosen the bolt securing the low pressure pipe to the front suspension subframe (head "on 10").
For vehicles with a K4M engine, remove the oxygen sensor wiring harness from the retainer on the steering gear heat shield, unscrew the steering gear heat shield fastening bolts and remove the shield (head "at 13").
Unscrew the bolts securing the steering gear to the subframe and attach the steering gear to the body (head "at 18").
Loosen and remove the bolt 3, Figure 7-1, fastening the connecting bracket 4 to the lower torque arm 2 (head "at 18").
Slightly loosen the bolt 5 fastening the connecting bracket to the crankcase 6 of the gearbox and turn the bracket 4 away from the jet thrust 2 (head"at 18").

Figure 7-2 - Order of tightening the subframe mounting bolts: 1,2, 3,4 - subframe mounting bolts numbered in accordance with the tightening order; 5 - front suspension subframe
Bring the transmission strut under the subframe 5, Figure 7-2, of the front suspension, raise the strut stop until it touches the subframe and unscrew the bolts 1-4 of the subframe fastening (head "at 18").
Lower the transmission tower and remove the subframe from the body. You need to do this with an assistant.
Remove from subframe if necessary:
- anti-roll bar;
- front suspension arms;
- jet thrust of the lower support of the power unit.
Installation
Attention. Reuse of the bolts of the front suspension subframe is not allowed. Bolts must be replaced.
Attention. Reuse of the ball joint nut to the steering knuckle is not allowed. The nut must be replaced.
If it was removed to install on a subframe:
- front suspension arms;
- anti-roll bar;
- jet thrust of the lower support of the power unit.
Install the subframe on the car and wrap, without tightening to the end, new mounting bolts. Install with an assistant (head "at 18").
Finally tighten the subframe mounting bolts in the sequence shown in Figure 7-2. Bolt tightening torque 105 Nm (10.5 kgf·m).
Install the steering gear to the front suspension subframe and secure with bolts. Bolt tightening torque 105 Nm (10.5 kgf·m).
For vehicles with a K4M engine, install the heat shield of the steering gear in place and secure with bolts. Bolt tightening torque 21 Nm (2.1 kgf·m) (head "at 13").
Attach the oxygen sensor harness to the holder on the steering gear heat shield.
Connect the gearbox connecting bracket to the power unit lower tie rod and tighten the bolts that secure the bracket to the gearbox housing and to the tie rod. Bolt tightening torque 105 Nm (10.5 kgf·m) (head "at 18").
Bolt the low pressure line to the front suspension subframe. Bolt tightening torque 21 Nm (2.1 kgf·m) (head "on 10").
Attention. The ball joint bolt of the lower front suspension arm to the steering knuckle is installed with the head towards the front of the vehicle.
Install the ball joint pin of the front suspension arm into the steering knuckle, install the mounting bolt and tighten the new nut. When assembling, the shoulder of the distance washer must fall into the slot on the steering knuckle. Nut tightening torque 62 Nm (6.2 kgf·m)
Repeat the operation of connecting the lever to the steering knuckle for the second side.
Install the mounting bolts into the upper holes of the connecting rods of the front suspension subframe and screw them into the corresponding holes of the side members of the engine compartment. Bolt tightening torque 21 Nm (2.1 kgf·m).
For vehicles with a K7M engine, install a catalytic converter.
Fasten the lower part of the bumper to the front suspension subframe with three mounting screws.
Install the lower and side mudguards of the front fenders.
Install the engine crankcase protection.
Install front wheels.
Remove the fixing straps from the radiator.
Check and, if necessary, adjust the alignment of the front wheels.
