Note: If special bolts are not available, you can secure the new lock using M6 threaded bolts 20 mm long, although this will significantly reduce the car's anti-theft protection.
Removal
1. Disconnect the ignition switch (lock) wiring harness connectors (see "Ignition Switch (Lock) - Check").
2. Resting the blade of the chisel against the edge of the head of one of the bolts, lightly tap the chisel with a hammer to loosen the bolt. Similarly, loosen the three remaining bolts securing the switch.
Note: The chisel should not cut through the bolt head, but should turn the bolt counterclockwise to loosen it.
3. Using narrow-nosed pliers, unscrew the bolts. While unscrewing the last bolt, hold the ignition switch. We remove the lock mounting bracket and the ignition lock itself from the steering column.
Installation
1. Before installing the ignition switch, insert the key into it and turn it to position I ("on") so that the steering shaft locking mechanism latch is pushed into the lock housing.
2. Install the ignition switch with the mounting bracket on the steering column and tighten the new mounting bolts by hand.
3. After removing the key from the ignition switch (lock), check the operation of the steering shaft locking mechanism. If the steering shaft does not lock after a full turn of the steering wheel, it is necessary to adjust the position of the ignition switch on the steering column so that the latch of the lock can enter the groove on the steering shaft.
4. After making sure that the locking mechanism is working, use a 10 mm open-end wrench to evenly (crosswise, half a turn) tighten the bolts until their heads come off.
5. Connect the ignition switch (lock) wire blocks and install the steering column pads ("Decorative steering column trims - removal and installation").
6. We check the operation of electrical equipment.
