Battery electrolyte level (Figure 8.9) should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the translucent battery case, and if they are absent, along the lower edge of the filler hole.

If there are no MIN and MAX marks on the battery case or the case is opaque, the electrolyte level should be 10–15 mm above the upper edge of the separators.

If the electrolyte level in the battery is below normal, contact an official LADA dealer.

Warning!
  • Always keep the battery terminals and clamps clean and securely connected.
  • Remember that oxidation of terminals and clamps, as well as careless connections, cause sparking at the point of unreliable contact, which can lead to failure of the vehicle's electronic equipment and even a fire in the engine compartment.
  • it is not permitted to check the generator's performance when the engine is running by removing the clamps from the battery.
  • When installing the battery on the vehicle, make sure that the wires are connected in accordance with the polarity indicated on their ends and the battery terminals (the positive terminal is larger than the negative one).
  • When charging the battery directly on the vehicle from an external power source, be sure to disconnect it from the generator. the battery is connected to the "B+" terminal of the generator with a positive wire - the "+" tip.

If the car is left idle for more than 4 weeks, the battery may become discharged.

To avoid this, remove the clamp from the negative terminal of the car battery.

Before you begin connecting and disconnecting the battery terminals, make sure the ignition is off.

Attention! Recharge the battery every month in case of difficult operating conditions and for vehicles with low mileage.

Difficult operating conditions include parking outside in winter and intensive use of air conditioning in summer.

Low-mileage vehicles – vehicles that travel on average less than 10 km daily, or a vehicle with an engine idling time of more than 30% per day (for example, special vehicles, taxis, etc.). it is prohibited to remove the "+" terminal of the battery when the ignition is on, as this may lead to failure of the vehicle's electronic equipment.

If the battery has an indicator of the density and level of electrolyte ("eye"), then the battery condition can be determined by its color:
  • green "eye" - the electrolyte level and density are normal.
  • black "eye" - the battery needs to be charged.
  • white "eye" - electrolyte level is below normal.

Warning! Electrolyte is an aggressive liquid, the effects of which are dangerous to your health and to the car parts. We recommend that you have your vehicle's battery serviced by LADA dealers.
