The battery is not recharging (Priora 2170)

The car has two sources of current - the battery and the generator. The battery is used to start the engine and to supply 12 V electric current to the starter and other consumers when the engine is not running. When the engine is running, the main source of current - the generator - supplies electric current to all consumers, including the ignition system, and charges the battery.



If the red battery discharge lamp lights up in the instrument cluster, this means that current is not flowing from the generator to the on-board network and the battery's energy reserve is being used up. It is not allowed to operate the vehicle with the low battery warning light on, as sometimes the reason for the light coming on may be a short circuit in the wiring, leading to a fire in the engine compartment of the vehicle. Stop the car, turn off the engine and determine what malfunction caused the lamp to light.
