To start, just turn on the starter without touching the accelerator pedal. The engine management system will independently set the fuel supply and ignition timing parameters necessary for starting.
1. Pull the hood latch handle towards you...
2.... depress the safety hook of the hood by hand and open the hood.
3. Remove the dipstick..
4. …and check the oil level. It should be between the upper and lower levels of the grid scale.
5. Check brake levels..
6.... and coolants.

7. Carefully inspect the engine and engine compartment (pic. 3.1, decorative cover removed for clarity). Pay attention to drips of gasoline, oil, brake and coolant fluids. Make sure that the electrical wiring is in good condition: check the absence of damage to the wires, the reliability of the connection of the electrical connectors of the sensors of the injection system, other components and parts of electrical equipment, the tightening of the terminals of the battery, starter and generator, check the reliability of the connection of the electrical connectors of the ignition coils.
Note. Inspect the condition of the crankshaft position sensor harness connector especially carefully. If there is no contact in this connector, the engine will not start.
8. Not closing the hood (cover the hood in case of rain or snow), get behind the wheel.
9. Switch on the ignition by turning the key in the ignition switch to position «II» - the electric fuel pump will turn on. To start, turn on the starter without touching the accelerator pedal. The engine management system will independently set the fuel supply and ignition parameters necessary for starting.
Note. It is better to close the hood after the engine starts to work. Before that, it is advisable to once again inspect the engine, make sure that there are no leaks of fuel, oil, coolant, as well as extraneous sounds in its operation.
Note. If, for any reason, during an unsuccessful start attempt, «flooded» spark plugs, use the mode «purge» cylinders. To do this, press the accelerator pedal all the way and turn on the starter. In this mode, there is no fuel supply and excess gasoline is removed from the cylinders by a stream of fresh air, while the spark plugs are dried. After purging, try starting again in the normal way.
If the engine does not start, there are three main reasons:
- start system does not work;
- the ignition system does not work;
- the power system is not working.
