Install a clamp on the low pressure line from the reservoir to the power steering pump (clip Ms. 583).
Attention. When performing work, take precautions to protect the generator from oil ingress.
For vehicles with a K4M engine, remove the fuel rail protection.
Disconnect the ignition harness connector from the oil pressure sensor and remove the sensor (wrench 21).
Install an adapter fitting instead of the pressure sensor and connect a pressure gauge to it (fitting Dir. 1204, pressure gauge Fre. 244-03, wrench 21, wrench 17).
Remove the clamp from the low pressure line.
Top up the oil level in the power steering reservoir (power steering oil Mobil ATF 52475).
Attention. To prevent damage to the power steering system, do not hold the steering wheel in extreme positions.
Bleed air from the power steering system.
Start the engine, turn the steering wheel to one of the extreme positions and check the pressure developed by the power steering pump. If the pressure does not correspond to the norm 75±5 bar - replace the pump of the power steering system.
Stop engine.
Install a clamp on the low pressure line from the reservoir to the power steering pump (clip Ms. 583).
Disconnect the pressure gauge and unscrew the pguzzer-adapter (wrench 21, wrench 17).
Attention. Be sure to replace the O-ring before installing the pressure sensor.
Install a new O-ring on the pressure sensor and screw the sensor into the high pressure pipe. Sensor tightening torque 12 Nm (1.2 kgf·m) (wrench 21, interchangeable insert 21 type 58 23 10 21 f. "Stahlwille", torque wrench type 50 18 00 04 f. "Stahlwille").
Connect the ignition harness connector to the power steering pressure sensor.
Remove the clamp from the low pressure line.
Top up the oil level in the power steering reservoir (power steering oil Mobil ATF 52475).
Bleed air from the power steering system.
Start the engine and check the tightness of the power steering system, if an oil leak is detected, repair the malfunction.
For vehicles with a K4M engine, install fuel rail protection.
