Removal
Place the vehicle on a two-post lift, apply the parking brake and turn off the ignition.
Remove the front wheel.
Raise the vehicle to a height convenient for performing work.

Loosen lock nut 2, Fig. 8-1, wheel alignment adjustment (spanner 21, spanner 19).
Loosen nut 4 securing the ball joint pin of the outer end of the steering rod and press the pin out of lever 5 of the steering knuckle (replacement head 16, ratchet, Tav. 476 device).
Unscrew and remove the outer tip 3 from the steering rod, marking the number of turns for further installation (spanner 19, spanner 13).
Installation
Check the condition of the boot and the joint of the outer tie rod end and replace the end if necessary.
Tighten the outer tie rod end onto the tie rod to the number of turns noted during removal (spanner 19, spanner 13).
Install the ball joint pin of the outer tie rod end into the steering arm and secure with the mounting nut. Nut tightening torque 37 Nm (3.7 kgf·m) (replaceable head 16, ratchet, torque wrench).
Tighten the wheel alignment lock nut. Tightening torque of the nut 53 N·m (5.3 kgf·m) (spanner 13, spanner 19, spanner 21, replaceable insert 21 type 58 21 40 21 f. "Stahlwille", torque wrench type 50 18 00 12 f. "Stahlwille").
Install the front wheel.
Check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angles.
