Removal
Place the vehicle on a work post, apply the parking brake, turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire terminal from the battery.
Loosen the two screws securing the steering column covers and, overcoming the force of the clamps, remove the upper and lower steering column covers.
Remove the transponder receiving coil from the ignition switch housing.
Loosen bolt 2, Figure 7-1, securing the steering column adjustment mechanism handle and remove handle 1.
Unscrew nut 3 securing axle 4 of the adjustment mechanism, remove washers, needle bearing and axle assembly with locking mechanism (replacement head 10, ratchet wrench).

Installation
Caution: When installing the steering column adjustment mechanism, make sure that the two toothed segments 1, Figure 7-2, are installed correctly.

Install axle 2, Figure 7-2, of the adjustment mechanism assembled with the locking mechanism on the steering column, install the needle bearing, washers and secure the axle with nut 3 (replacement head 10, ratchet wrench).
Install the adjustment mechanism handle in place and secure it with the bolt.
Adjust the stroke force of the adjustment mechanism handle by changing the tightening torque of nut 3 of the axle fastening (replaceable head 13, ratchet wrench).
Check the operation of the steering column adjustment mechanism.
Install the transponder receiving coil.
Install the upper and lower steering column covers and secure with two screws.
Connect the ground wire terminal to the battery.
