Removal
Place the vehicle on the work post and apply the parking brake.
Lock the airbag control unit using a diagnostic tool.
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire terminal from the battery.

Remove the driver airbag module (DABM).
Set the front wheels to a position that corresponds to the straight-ahead movement of the vehicle.
Do not completely unscrew bolt 3, Figure 2-1, of the steering wheel mount (torx T50 replacement bit, extension and ratchet).
While rocking it from side to side, pull the steering wheel towards you, moving it along the splines.
Unscrew the fastening screw completely.
Carefully thread the 2 wire harness from the steering column switch unit to the airbag module through the hole in the hub
and remove the steering wheel from the shaft.
Installation
Caution: Re-use of the steering wheel mounting bolt to the steering shaft is not permitted. The bolt must be replaced.
Make sure that the front wheels of the vehicle are in a position that corresponds to the straight-ahead movement of the vehicle.
Check and, if necessary, set the contact disk of the rotating block of the steering column switches to the middle position.
Install the steering wheel onto the steering shaft. The steering wheel is installed so that the wide groove on the steering wheel 1 fits into the groove of the steering shaft. In this case, the narrower grooves 2 will align with the corresponding slots on the steering shaft.

Secure the steering wheel with a new bolt. Bolt tightening torque 44 Nm (4.4 kgf·m) (torx T50 replacement bit, extension and ratchet, torque wrench).
When installing the steering wheel, route the wiring harness from the steering column switch assembly to the airbag module through the hole in the hub.
Install the driver airbag module (DABM).
Connect the ground wire terminal to the battery and turn on the ignition.
Unlock the airbag control unit using a diagnostic tool.
Check the operation of the rotating block of steering column switches, for which:
- turn the steering wheel to the extreme left position;
- turn the steering wheel to the extreme right position;
- return the steering wheel to the center position;
- make sure that there is no fault message displayed on the instrument cluster.
