In the variant version the car is equipped with the Safe Parking System (SPS). SPS is designed to warn the driver about approaching an obstacle when reversing using 4 sensors (Figure 5.4), located in the rear bumper of the car.

The driver is warned of approaching an obstacle and informed of the distance to the obstacle by an acoustic signaling device.

When the ignition is on, the SBP is switched on automatically when reverse gear is engaged. At this point a short sound signal is heard.

Warning! Under special circumstances, various reflective surfaces of the environment, objects or clothing, extraneous sound sources may cause the SBP not to react to an obstacle. For this reason, the presence of a SBP does not relieve you of the obligation to exercise caution when reversing.

Disabling the Safe Parking System

Figure 5.5. SBP switch

If you don't need it or the system malfunctions, you can turn it off by pressing the switch (Figure 5.5, for example, when driving with a towing hitch).

The indicator light will remain on continuously.

A system disabled in this way can be enabled again by pressing it again.

Warning! If the system detects a malfunction, a warning sound is emitted for 3 seconds. To eliminate the malfunction, contact a LADA dealer.

Features of operation and maintenance of the safe parking system (SPS)

1. After the SBP is turned on, a short sound signal is heard, then the control unit carries out a comprehensive check in order to detect defective sensors or other system malfunctions.

If a defective sensor or other system malfunction is detected, a continuous high-pitched beep will sound for 3 seconds after the power-on signal, then:
  • if the left one is faulty (in the direction of the car) sensor, the system signals a faulty sensor with one short high-pitched signal;
  • if the center left one is faulty (in the direction of the car) sensor, the system signals a faulty sensor with two short high-pitched beeps;
  • if the central right one is faulty (in the direction of the car) sensor, the system signals a faulty sensor with three short high-pitched beeps;
  • if the right one is faulty (in the direction of the car) sensor, the system signals a faulty sensor with four short high-pitched beeps;
  • if the control unit is faulty, five short high-pitched beeps are heard.

After transmitting signals about the presence of a malfunction, the system goes into inactive operating mode.

When the system is restored to working order, a short low-pitched sound signal is heard and the system switches to normal operation mode.

1. It should be taken into account that due to the peculiarities of the propagation of ultrasonic waves, the system does not detect dangerous obstacles that scatter or absorb ultrasonic waves. These are very low, thin, pointed objects, down clothing, soft snow, etc.

2. To prevent malfunction, the sensors must be kept free of snow, ice and dirt.

When cleaning the sensors, do not use hard or sharp objects. Sensors must be protected from impacts.

In the optional version, the car is equipped with a rear view camera (RVC).

The KZV is activated when reverse gear is engaged and generates a color video signal with parking lines (Figure 5.7, lines with letter designations a, b, c) to display the situation behind the vehicle.

The signal from the KZV is displayed on the multimedia system display. The rear view camera is installed in the rear door trim. Initial width of the parking corridor (Figure 5.7) corresponds to the overall dimensions of the car plus 200 mm on each side.

Figure 5.7. Image of static parking lines:

Figure 5.7. Image of static parking lines:
a – green dotted mark. Corresponds to a distance of 4.5-4.6 meters of space from the car bumper;
b – yellow cross mark. Should correspond to a distance of 1.3-1.4 meters of space from the car bumper;
c – red cross mark. Corresponds to a distance of 0.3–0.4 meters from the car bumper.

Attention! The KZV is an auxiliary system that helps the driver estimate the distance to possible obstacles. To prevent incorrect operation, the camera must be kept free of snow, ice and dirt. When cleaning the camera, do not use hard, rigid or sharp objects. The camera must be protected from impacts. replacement of the short-circuit valve is carried out by official LADA dealers.
