Note. work on checking the level and changing the oil do not differ depending on the modification of the gearbox.
How often to change the oil in the gearbox
The manufacturer does not prescribe an oil change in the gearbox during the entire life of the vehicle. Those. theoretically, the oil can not be changed at all. However, due to various reasons, replacement is necessary. (repair, contamination, leakage, or replacement with oil with different characteristics) In addition, we must not forget the need to constantly (at least every 15 thousand km) check the oil level in the gearbox. (see below)
What oil in the gearbox
Gear oils: API quality class: GL-4; GL-5 and SAE viscosity grade: 75W80.
For example, TRANSELF TRJ 75W-80 brand oil.
How much oil in the gearbox
Box JH3 - 2.8 liters.
JR5 box - 2.5 liters.
Box 21809 - 2.25 l.
Level check
Remove engine protection (central mudguard) (see here).
A filler hole is located on the side surface of the gearbox, it also serves to control the oil level. Closed with plastic stopper.
Wipe the gearbox housing around the filler with a rag (control) holes.
Unscrew the plastic cap (counterclock-wise).
The plug has a rubber ring gasket. If it is severely crimped, replace it.
The oil level is checked with a finger. It should be at the edge of the hole (or a little lower, you can get it without difficulty)
Replacement
Attention: it is forbidden to fill oil through the breather hole.
Substitute a container under the gearbox at least 3.5 liters. Loosen the drain plug (tetrahedron "for 8").
Note. if you do not have a suitable four-sided key, then you can grind the M10 bolt.
Unscrew the plug completely and drain the oil.
The drain plug has a copper sealing ring. If it is heavily compressed, replace it.
Wait until the old oil is completely drained. Screw on the plug.
Unscrew the plastic filler plug and use a syringe to fill in new oil until it starts to flow out. (approximate volumes are indicated at the beginning).
Note. if you do not have a filling syringe, you can use a piece of clean hose of a suitable diameter. Insert one end into the filler hole, pull the other end up into the engine compartment and pour oil through a funnel.
Close the cork. Replace protection.
