Removing
For vehicles with JH3 gearbox
Put the car on a two-post lift, apply the parking brake, turn off the ignition and disconnect the wire terminal "masses" from the battery.
Loosen nut 1, Figure 11-1, fastening linkage 2 of gear change actuator to gear lever 3 (interchangeable head 10, knob).

For vehicles with K7M engine
Remove the engine crankcase protection.
Disconnect the oxygen sensor connectors.
Unscrew the two nuts 1, Figure 11-2, of the studs securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold 3, remove the springs 2 (interchangeable head 10, extension, crank).

Disconnect the downstream oxygen sensor connector.
Unscrew the two nuts 1, Figure 11-3, the studs securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold, remove the springs (interchangeable head 10, extension, crank).

Operations for all vehicle configurations
Remove catalytic converter from suspension mount. Move exhaust pipe aside.
Remove floor tunnel lining.
Unscrew nuts 1, Figure 11-4, securing the gear lever (interchangeable head 13, extension, crank).

Detach the gearshift lever 2 from the floor by depressing the four latches 3.
Lower the shift lever so that it rests on the exhaust pipe.
Remove the shift lever by passing it between the exhaust pipe and the floor tunnel.
Installation
For vehicles with JH3 gearbox
Install the shift lever 2, Figure 11-4, passing it between the exhaust pipe and the floor tunnel and fasten it with clips to the floor of the body.
Install and tighten nuts 1 securing the gear lever with a torque of 21 Nm (2.1 kgf·m) (interchangeable head 13, extension, knob, torque wrench).
Apply silicone grease to the drive link shaft on the shift lever (silicone grease 77 11 419 216 according to current "Codifier of the main and auxiliary materials used in the maintenance and repair of LADA vehicles" K 3100.25100.00018, consumption rate 1 g)
Connect the linkage 2, Figure 11-1, of the gearshift drive with the gearshift lever 3 and fix the linkage fastening nut 1 (interchangeable head 10, knob).
Tighten the gearshift linkage nut to 27.5 Nm (2.75 kgf·m) (interchangeable head 10, torque wrench).
Check the operation of the gear shift drive.
Install floor tunnel lining.
Install catalytic converter.
Install the springs and tighten the catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold stud nuts to 21 Nm (2.1 kgf·m) (interchangeable head 10, extension, torque wrench).
For vehicles with engine. K7M
Connect oxygen sensor connectors
Install the engine crankcase protection.
For vehicles with K4M engine
Connect the downstream oxygen sensor connector.
Removing
For vehicles with JR5 gearbox
Put the car on a two-post lift, apply the parking brake, turn off the ignition and disconnect the wire terminal "masses" from the battery.
For vehicles with K4M engine
Remove intake silencer.
Operations for all vehicle configurations
Unscrew the two nuts 1, Figure 11-4, securing the expansion tank.

Remove expansion tank 2 and lay aside without disconnecting hoses.
Disconnect hinges 1, Figure 11-5, selector and shift cables from gearbox levers 2 (flat screwdriver).

Disconnect the stoppers 3 of the sheaths of the select and shift cables from the brackets on the gearbox by pressing the tabs on both sides.
For vehicles with K7M engine
Remove the engine crankcase protection.
Disconnect oxygen sensor connectors.
Unscrew the two nuts 1, Figure 11-2, of the studs securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold 3, remove the springs 2 (interchangeable head 10, extension, crank)
For vehicles with K4M engine
Disconnect the downstream oxygen sensor connector.
Unscrew the two nuts 1, Figure 11-3, the studs securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold, remove the springs (interchangeable head 10, extension, crank).
Operations for all vehicle configurations
Remove catalytic converter from suspension mount.
Move exhaust pipe aside.
For vehicles with K4M engine
Unscrew nuts 1, Figure 11-6, fastening the heat shield and remove the heat shield 2 of the catalytic converter (interchangeable head 18, extension, crank).

Remove floor tunnel lining.
Unscrew bolts 1, Figure 11-7, fastening the gear lever (interchangeable head 13, extension, crank).

Detach the gearshift lever 2 from the floor by depressing the two latches 3.
Lower the shift lever so that it rests on the exhaust pipe.
Remove the shift lever by passing it between the exhaust pipe and the floor tunnel.
Installation
For vehicles with JR5 gearbox
Install and fasten with latches 3, Figure 11-7, to the floor the gearshift lever 2.
Install and tighten the bolts 1 securing the gear lever with a torque of 21 Nm (2.1 kgf·m) (interchangeable head 13, extension, knob, torque wrench).
Install floor tunnel lining.
Install the stoppers 3, Figure 11-5, of the sheaths of the select and shift cables into the gearbox brackets.
Connect the hinges 1 of the select and shift cables to the levers 2 of the gearbox.
Check the operation of the gear shift drive.
Install the heat shield 2, Figure 11-6, of the catalytic converter and the nut 1 of the heat shield (interchangeable head 18, extension, crank).
Operations for all vehicle configurations
Install catalytic converter.
Install the springs and tighten the catalytic converter-to-exhaust manifold stud nuts to 21 Nm (2.1 kgf·m) (interchangeable head 10, extension, torque wrench).
For vehicles with K7M engine
Connect the oxygen sensor connectors.
Install the engine crankcase protection.
For vehicles with K4M engine
Connect the downstream oxygen sensor connector.
Operations for all vehicle configurations.
Install the expansion tank and tighten the expansion tank nuts to 8 Nm (0.8 kgf·m) (wrench 10, interchangeable head 10, extension, torque wrench).
For vehicles with K4M engine
Install the intake silencer.
