Checking the oil level in the transfer case (XRAY 1)

It is necessary to check the oil level in the transfer case every 15 thousand km, and also if oil leaks are detected on the transfer case housing. We check the oil level on a cold transfer case.

Using a rag, clean the transfer case housing around the filler hole.



Using a 12 mm Allen key, unscrew the filler plug in the transfer case housing.

If there is a normal amount of oil in the transfer case, its level should reach the bottom edge of the filler hole; this can be checked with your finger. If the oil level is significantly below the required level...



...using a transmission oil syringe, add oil to the lower edge of the filler hole (oil will start to flow out of the hole).

When the excess oil has drained, remove the oil drips with a rag. We screw the plug back into place.
