On a long journey, especially if the route is unfamiliar, you have to rely only on yourself and the spare parts in the trunk. Below is a complete list of necessary spare parts, tools and consumables that may come in handy. You can change it according to your own needs, make it smaller or larger. But even if you don't know how to repair a car at all, don't reduce the number of spare parts or tools. In an emergency, you can, of course, stop a passing car, go to any motor pool or roadside auto service, but that particular spare part or tool may not be there, and the spare parts store is closed.

When going on a long journey, take the following additionally.

1. Additional set of tools:
  • big hammer;
  • flat and Phillips-head screwdrivers in three sizes - small, medium and large (power);
  • chisel;
  • set of heads from "8" to "32" with extensions of 125 and 250 mm, a handle, a ratchet and a cardan (domestic, European or American production);
  • brake bleeder key and a thin hose 15-20 cm long;
  • core;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • medium-cut file;
  • additional mounting blade;
  • skein of knitting wire;
  • a piece of thick cardboard for making gaskets;
  • several screw clamps of different diameters;
  • a piece of emery cloth.

2. Jack stand - a wooden block 40x250x250 mm, a stand (like a "goat") for working under a car.

3. Canister of motor oil (in a package of 1 or 4 l). Moreover, for 1000 km of mileage for a new car that has not been run in, take 4 liters, for one that has traveled 50,000 km – 1 liter, for one that has traveled 100,000 km – 2 liters, with a mileage of over 100,000 km – 4 liters.



4. Coolant canister 1 l (in winter – 5 l).

5. Power steering fluid top-up – 1 l.

6. Oil for adding to the gearbox – 1 l.

7. Bottle of brake fluid.

8. Tube of Litol-24 lubricant.

9. Canister with gasoline – 10 l.

10. Hose for transferring gasoline.

11. Fuel additive to increase octane number (based on two full refills).

12. A product for removing bitumen stains from the car body.

13. Windshield insect remover.

14. Special kit for repairing tubeless tires without dismounting or wheel sealant.

15. At least one windshield wiper blade.

16. Ignition module for one cylinder.

17. Tested thermostat.

18. Oil and petrol resistant sealant.

19. Repair kit for muffler.

20. Set of spare lamps (half of all lamps installed on a vehicle, excluding repetitive ones).

21. New brake pads (two pieces for disc and drum brakes).

22. Set of tension springs for drum brake shoes (per brake mechanism).

23. Brake hoses (there are hoses of different sizes on the car, have one of each size).

24. A pair of wheel mounting bolts.

25. Box with bolts, nuts and washers (two or three pieces from M5 to M10).

26. In winter - glass de-icer and "liquid key" for locks.

27. In winter - anti-skid chains or a bag of sand.

28. Wide transparent tape (for repairing hoses and broken glass).

29. A flashlight with batteries or accumulators and a spare set of batteries for it.

30. Roulette (may be useful in case of an accident).

31. A box of matches, a hatchet.

32. A strong rope or cord.

33. Thread work gloves.



34. Some work clothes.

35. Hand cleaner.

36. Mat for working under the car.

37. A soft pencil, several sheets of paper or a notebook.
