During vehicle operation, the exhaust system components are exposed to high temperatures, exhaust gases, water, snow and reagents that are used to spray the road in winter, as well as vibration. Therefore, as a rule, individual elements of the exhaust system serve on a vehicle for no more than five years. The partitions in the muffler burn out, through corrosion appears in the walls, and the tightness of the connection of the exhaust system elements is broken. Such malfunctions lead to an increase in the noise level of the exhaust of the running engine.

To carry out the work, you will need an inspection pit or overpass.

Sequence of execution

1. Prepare the car for work ("Preparing the car for maintenance and repair"),

2. Inspect the suspension cushions of the main and additional mufflers.

Recommendation. Cushions that have cracks, tears or other damage must be replaced.

3. We can determine whether the exhaust system is leaking by traces of carbon deposits or places where gases are leaking.

3. We can determine whether the exhaust system is leaking by traces of carbon deposits or places…

Recommendation. Gas leaks through flange connections can be eliminated by tightening the fastening elements. The tightness of the connection between the exhaust pipe and the catalytic converter can be restored by replacing the gasket. Defective system elements damaged by through corrosion must be replaced. Restoring exhaust system components using welding only provides a short-term effect.
