Caution: Do not allow contact cleaner or other materials to come into contact with the oxygen sensor or sensor connector. These materials may enter the oxygen sensor and cause it to malfunction.

The vehicle uses two oxygen sensors: a control oxygen sensor, the replacement of which is described on this page, and a diagnostic oxygen sensor, the replacement of which is described here.

It is located in the threaded hole of the exhaust manifold.

Removal



For cars with K4M engine



Place the vehicle in a work area, apply the parking brake, turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire terminal from the battery.

Remove the intake silencer and air filter housing.

Disconnect the wiring harness connector from connector 1, Figure 11-21, of the control oxygen sensor.

Disconnect the oxygen sensor control connector from bracket 2.

Unscrew the control oxygen sensor 3 (device Mot. 1495 or replaceable insert 22 from the kit type 811382 f. "USAG").

For cars with K7M engine



Place the vehicle on a two-post lift, apply the parking brake, turn off the ignition and disconnect the ground wire from the battery.

Remove the engine crankcase guard.

Remove connector 1, Fig. 11-22, of the oxygen sensor control from the holder by sliding it.

Unscrew the control oxygen sensor 3 (device Mot. 1495 or replaceable insert 22 from the kit type 811382 f. "USAG").

Installation



For cars with K4M engine



Install control sensor 3, Figure 11-21, oxygen. The sensor tightening torque is 45 N·m (4.5 kgf·m) (device Mot. 1495 or replaceable insert 22 from the kit type 811382 f. "USAG", torque wrench).

Attach the oxygen sensor control block to bracket 2.

Connect the wiring harness connector to connector 1 of the control oxygen sensor.



Install the air filter housing and intake silencer (see above).

Connect the ground wire terminal to the battery.

For cars with K7M engine



Install control sensor 3, Figure 11-22, oxygen. The sensor tightening torque is 45 N·m (4.5 kgf·m) (device Mot. 1495 or replaceable insert 22 from the set type 811382 f. "USAG" torque wrench).

Secure the sensor harness with clamp 2.

Connect the wiring harness connector to connector 1 of the control oxygen sensor.

Install the oxygen sensor control socket into the holder.

Install engine crankcase protection



Connect the ground wire terminal to the battery.
