Removal
Place the vehicle on a two-post lift, apply the parking brake and turn off the ignition.

Open the rear loading doors and loosen the bolt securing the hook 1, Figure 2-1, of the spare wheel basket lock by several turns (replacement head 17, extension and ratchet).
Raise the vehicle to a height convenient for performing the work.

Remove handle 2, Figure 2-2, of the spare wheel basket from hook 1, lower basket 3, holding the spare wheel, and remove the wheel from the basket.

Remove basket 2, Figure 2-3, from mounting brackets 3 and remove the basket.
Completely unscrew bolt 2, figure 2-4, securing the hook and remove hook 5 (replacement head 17, extension and ratchet).
Unscrew the two bolts 3 securing the spare wheel basket lock housing and remove the housing 4 together with the sealing gasket 1 (torx T40 replacement bit, extension, ratchet wrench).

Installation
Install sealing gasket 1 on housing 4, Figure 2-4, of the spare wheel basket lock.
Install the lock housing assembly with the gasket in place and tighten the two bolts 3, while the sealing gasket 1 should be securely clamped between the lock housing and the body (torx T40 replacement bit, extension, ratchet wrench).
Install hook 5 into lock body 4 and tighten bolt 2 into the hook nut (replacement head 17, extension and ratchet).
Install the spare wheel basket levers into the mounting brackets on the body.
Place the spare tire in the basket.
Raise the basket and secure the basket handle to the hook.
Tighten the spare wheel basket hook mounting bolt. Bolt tightening torque 14 Nm (1.4 kgf·m) (replaceable head 17, extension and ratchet, torque wrench).
